VIER DE BEELDMIX – A JOURNEY THROUGH DUTCH PHOTOGRAPHY
From June 27 to October 26, 2025, Museum Hilversum and NS, in collaboration with Stichting Beeldmix, present the exhibition Vier de Beeldmix (Celebrate the Image Mix). As a participating artist, I’m proud to be part of this major group exhibition, which brings together highlights from the acclaimed project De Mix. Historical and contemporary photographers are paired in surprising visual dialogues that celebrate diversity, imagination, and the enduring power of Dutch photography.
‘Vier de Beeldmix’ is the concluding exhibition of a twelve-part series De Mix Nederland. In each edition, historical photography serves as a source of inspiration for contemporary Dutch photographers.
RITME IN DE POLDER
For my contribution, entitled Ritme in de Polder (Rhythm in the Polder), I was invited to draw inspiration from the work of Ger Dekkers (1929–2020). He is known for his precise, rhythmic sequences of Dutch polder landscapes, involving shifting points of view. While his subject was the natural geometry of the land, I remained focused on architecture — my own ongoing field of exploration. The project has become a dialogue between two visual approaches that share a fascination with rhythm, repetition, precision, transformation and the location of the province of Flevoland. Where Dekkers captured a playful approach to the design of the open polder, I reflected on the built environment, inspired by the abstract beauty of architectural design of the cities and buildings of Flevoland.
